Hollywood is one block from Mount Hood.

Everybody's telling you go further south.

Don't live on Carey and anything, ever.

First year here I lived on Lake Mead and Hollywood. South side of L. Mead, East of Hollywood. It was an apartment complex...that was surprisingly nice. Lots of Air Force people. Now across L. Mead was a different story. Stabbings, a shooting and lots of choppers with the search light on. Lots of burglaries, domestics, etc in that entire area. There are some nice houses like some others have said. Going just a block or two two our nearest gas station or Albertsons was always an experience. People asking for money everywhere you went. They would even follow you in to the store. I witnessed them begging the cashiers for money. I'm a 37 year old male and more than once I bypassed the nearest gas station and kept driving due to the people hanging around outside. Nothing serious ever happened to us, but it we were happy when our lease was up. So much nicer not having to look over your shoulder all the time.

I didn't spend any time on E. Carey and Hollywood, but from what I could tell, it wasn't somewhere I would want to be. On the plus side, lots of good food in the area, just go early.

You have good and quite consistent advice. What you choose to do is up to you.

East of Hollywood and South of Owens and North of Charleston. Some exceptions for West of Hollywood between Bonanza and Stewart, but certainly not further west than Fogg.

I grew up on that side of town. It wasn't any good when I was a kid and it certainly isn't any better now. My mother still lives up there, in the housing tract past Albertsons. The higher up you are on the mountain, the longer it takes to get on the highway. You have to go to Henderson if you want to eat or shop somewhere decent.

The east side is miserable. It's cheaper for a reason.

I would also second the person that mentioned Pecos as a red flag. Add Boulder Hwy and anyplace on Nellis to that list.

When you're looking for places to live, go to crimemapping dot com and plug in the address. Up will come the map with all the latest crimes in that area. The police force here we call Metro is affiliated with this site.

It's a rough area there. What's your budget?
