Originally the "grandfather clause" help up as long as you always kept a smart phone on your plan and were allowed to upgrade, then they changed it to only if you paid full price for your phone. If you used an upgrade and bought a phone at a discount, you lost it. I hung on as long as I could and did buy one phone full price, but finally went with an upgrade and lost the unlimited.

So, I guess TECHNICALLY, you could still have it if you never used an upgrade and paid full price for all new phones, but the original unlimited plan's price went up. That is what i was thinking. Cost wise it didn't make sense having to pay full price for a device and more per month. So the Grandfather is still there, but they changed Grandpa's terms.

I don't know why I was hanging on to it. I use WiFi when I can, so my data is very low every month!

Because I buy my phones through private parties and not through Verizon.

I'm still on a Galaxy S4. Nothing wrong with it.
