Hello,

I hope all of you are doing well.

I have a question about roof access here in the LV.

To the best of my knowledge the name of the type of tiles most homes have on them here is called "Spanish Tile". I have recently had some issues w/ pigeons that will have me needing to climb up on the roof to deal with them.

My question is whether or not there is a certain method to climbing over the tiles or stepping on certain areas in order not to break them?

Thank you

Spanish is a style. Not a material. It is the lined up tin can look.

Virtually all the Spanish style stuff in LV and elsewhere in the US southwest is a light weight concrete tile.

This is basically concrete with air injected to lower the weight.

You simply walk on it gently. My 250 lb. body does not break them. If however you stomp or trip you will break them. So walk gently. And they will be fine. I would also note that sneakers are standard on roofers.

Breaking a couple is not a big deal. They are easily replaced. I still have a hundred or so left from the 300 or so spares when the house was new 25 years ago. Wind and stuff gets 10 or 15 every year.

The best strategy is to weigh 150 lbs or less, or hire a pest control company.
