The opening and final games have to be in a stadium capable of holding 80,000 and have the logistical capacity to deal with the anticipated crowd. Oh and there's that natural grass issue that indoor facilities have to deal with.

I see the big games to wind up in LA, Dallas, DC, NY, or Mexico City.

Yeah, a few issues to overcome, but I still don't think Oakland is coming here, not until the first game is played.

Many years ago, I had an Uncle in Brazil that traveled all over world for the World Cup. Back in 1986, he went to Mexico for the tournament. Since he was so close (in his mind), he decided to come visit my Mom in the US - we lived in Massachusetts. He and a friend spent 5 days on a bus to get here. Bus travel in Brazil is very common. They then went to Montreal and Toronto before returning to Mexico to fly home.

would be amazing to have a game or two of the WC here, would be even better if the US team is in one of those games here

Well, they've been on a roll lately and won the Gold Cup so that may have something to do with it.
Or are you suggesting they are ranked too low?
