I was looking at kb homes site and they have new homes construction at huntington. It looks like houses in the west-southwest area. Does anyone have any info on this area?

KB tend to be cheaply made. That said, I've seen run down 2004s by American West and whatnot so it probably doesn't matter too much at the end of the day.
I live in Huntington, the Manchester section. It is a "kinda sorta" master plan community. It does not have a gate or community amenities (pool, workout, etc). So while it's good that the HOA is low, it does mean it will have a harder time being considered premium like Rhodes Ranch and whatnot.
The good is that it's right up against a mountain/hill looking thing, so I have great views from the front and back of my house. The bad is that you do have to hop in a car and drive at least 5 minutes for bite/bank/whatever. Blue Diamond will take a long time to be built up all the way down there. Going north on Ft Apache they are putting tons of new stuff in, and that's where I find I do most shopping... although the corner of Warm Springs and Durango is very useful too.
It takes me 19-24 minutes to pick someone up from the airport. And about 25 minutes to park/valet at a strip property. You take the 215, don't bother with Blue D unless you have to, it's a cluster f***.
Prices seem to be trading at a slight premium at Huntington over other beat down SW communities right now. The neighborhood itself is very nice, but eventually people like me are going to start renting out their '06-'08s and that could change. The lot sizes are not the greatest too fwiw. Parking is kinda weak, although no one seems to care if you park in red zones so that opens things up (I have 3 cars).
Good luck "neighbor".

KB knocking is a local sport. Anybody here who makes a low end home will be cited as a "cheap" builder.
In general KB builds to the same codes as everyone else. The building techniques are relatively well standardized and most everybody uses the same sub contractors.
According to a high level local Engineer who runs a major PE type inspection operation the worst stuff he comes across tends to be in customs and DIY add ons. He thinks the other builders to be relatively uniform.
Tolle Brothers, a local favorite for quality, has been the subject of heavy legal litigation over quality in the east. Are they different here?

I concur with Olecapt. All builders build to the same building codes. No reason to target KB Homes specifically.
Do some research in the communities or neighboring communities you are buying in, to see if any lawsuits have been filed against a specific builder for construction defects, within a 10 year period....
