If it plans to attack in Los Angeles, how long will the blast or radiation arrive in Vegas?

Considering they used to test nukes close enough to see the cloud from Vegas...I'm not worried about it.

There are many factors that would have to be taken into consideration. I.E: Size of bomb, air burst or ground, wind speed, etc. A bomb equivalent to the one dropped on Nagasaki (20 KT) would result in a fallout area less than 600 square miles. If we upped it to the around 22 times that (Trident D5 Warhead) the fallout radius would be close to 5400 square miles. Vegas would be unlikely to get hit by either blast, but the latter would definitely send radiation much further. As for arrival time you would have to calculate distance & wind speed. A 15 mile an hour NW wind would put fallout in Vegas around 18 hours after the initial blast.

About 17 minutes 38 seconds. Give or take a few seconds.

That's not the nuke you should be worried about. The nuke to Nellis is the one that concerns me.

By my calculations, using the IAETA fallout models, assuming that average atmospheric conditions were suitable for moving radiation in the direction of Las Vegas, the expected time to reach Las Vegas is between 27 hours and 38 hours.

No, if you'll excuse me, I have to go feed my pet dragon.

With the Soviets, we knew they would target significant military infrastructure first. With the North Koreans, it could be anything, but may be symbolic US targets first.

i would think it would depend on what time of year it happened - part of the year we get our winds from la; other times we get it from arizona (monsoon season). i'm thinking it would take longer to reach us if it was monsoon season (further distance to travel).
