Las Vegas Drunk is correct there is plenty of work available, it may just not be what you are looking for.
+1 for you, I could not have said it better myself.

if you get a job for $9/hr, you aren't going to cancel your benefits so you would still count as unemployed wouldn't you? I think they just deduct what you claim as income dollar for dollar don't they?
You cannot be employed and receive unemployment benefits at the same time. That is considered fraud.

Why does that surprise you?

Perhaps you've heard of Honeywell, Sperry Rand, or a little company called IBM. Oh, and BTW, the PC has been around for almost 30 years. And people have been working with computers for decades before that.

Or are you just commenting on the term "IT." Just because it wasn't called IT back in the day, doesn't mean that it doesn't count as an IT job.

Relax...I just meant that it makes me feel old because it doesn't seem like
it's been around that long.

People, please don't give unemployment advise. I've told you a million times you will never get it right. After almost 14 years with ESD I don't always get it right, and I have NEVER heard anyone who hasn't done it for a living get anything right...NEVER...NO KIDDING. Even the claims examiners have to look it up about half the time.

You CAN get partial unemployment if you are cut down to part time by your employer and making less than what your weekly benefits would be for unemployment as long as you are available for full time work. Also applies if you were laid off and part time is all you could find. You will not be eligible for unemployment no matter what you are making if you are working full time. That is the simple answer, but most cases are more complex. So just file your claim, tell them all the facts, and let the unemployment office decide. They won't cheat you. They'll help you.

It's very hard to find a job if you've been out of the active job market for four years. I took care of my late mother for 3+ years, and people just don't want to give me a chance.
