We've lived here about four years. Husband just got his first LV speeding ticket, for 1 -10 MPH over the limit. He was on Sahara. The officer said they'd recently lowered the limit to 35 and he was cited for driving 45.

When we lived in CT, the prevailing wisdom was that is was always worth it to go to court to fight it because they'd automatically lower the fine. From what I can tell, the fine for a first offense in LV is $205 regardless of the speed?

Just wondering if anyone can share from experience what the best approach is? Does traffic school or hiring a lawyer who fights tickets do anything for you, or is the amount of the fine too low to bother? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Standard operating procedure here is to just ask the court to let you go to traffic school and reduce the ticket to a parking ticket. On a first offense you can just go to the court clerk window any time before the court date (perhaps you can even call them?) and ask for this. In this case you'll pay both the fine and a fee for traffic school. You may be able to do the traffic school online.

As I understand it, they rarely reduce fines anymore. They'll drop it to a parking ticket to save you on an insurance increase. If you hire a cheap ticket attorney ($50-$75?) you can usually get the same deal except you may have the option to pay an additional fee ($100'ish) in lieu of attending traffic school.

Where on Sahara was he? Are there signs posted now with the lower limit?

1 to 10 over? Didn't it used to be 5 to 10 over?

There is a bright pinkish - purple house at the corner of Rainbow and Flamingo, NW corner. Attorneys - which is all they do is 'take care' of tickets.

Got an $800.00 ticket in Beverly Hills for a right turn on red. Didn't see the sign. I used the above.

Craig P. Kenny & Associates. Wife had an at fault accident and she ended up with a parking violation and fine.

I just take a picture of the ticket and it goes to a law firm and they handle it.

Forgive me if this information is dated, but anytime I've gotten a speeding ticket it has been for 1-10 over (3 in the last 4 years!). I've always hired a ticket fixer and the fine is always lowered to a parking ticket and they eliminate the need to attend traffic school and keep from points being added to your driving record. Anytime I shop around for insurance, they ask about tickets or accidents in the last 3 years and nothing ever pops up. Craig P. Kenny is who I've had do this for me.

Man, cops are always camped out on Sahara looking to extort people.
I got busted for 36 in a 35 on Sahara. I had a busted minivan in front of me, a car beside me, and a car behind me. All 4 cars going the same exact speed. But I got singled out.

Anyway, I call a lawyer. It really doesn't matter which one, they will all get you out of it.

1 mph over the limit and they wrote you a ticket? That's ridiculous.

the fine stays the same, the violation itself is reduced to parking... you can do this online also.. no need for attorney

It is my understanding if you go to court you pay the court costs win or lose.
That is what a lawyer told me about a ticket I got about 18 months ago anyway.
