That basically consists of what, a handful of streets? From what I have seen there's a lot of decent areas to live in.

There is far more positive than negative. The overall cost of living is significantly lower compared to ca, especially in the basin or bay areas. There are less people, so if you stay away from the tourist attractions, life is less hectic and rushed. One person's "hot" is another persons "mild". For some, the warm/hot, dry climate has less effect on their health than a cooler, wetter one. No one forces you to gamble. We've lived here nearly two years now, and I've gambled three times, for a total of $20, returning about $16 in winnings. I do not fear imminent homelessness by wasting $2/year in the casinos..LOL. But we do find plenty of other things to do, so boredom is not a frequent visitor to our lives.

Any place is what you make it. There is good and there is bad. Just try and see the positive, and it makes a world of difference...
