From my experience the healthcare here in Las Vegas could use improvement. Everybody is a specialist. You go in to your general practitioner for a standard rash and they send you to a dermatologist as it is out of their tight field. The way that doctors work here is to push you on to the next one and the next one and then the next one.

Also in order to get in to a doctor their is usually a month + wait.

That's what they do in Reno too. I liked my Doctor but it got to the point where I just quit telling him that anything was bothering, before you could finish a sentence he was referring me to a specialist and it took forever to get an appointment to see the specialist.

I had a simple rash on my back but it itched just awful I told the doctor and he said 'you need to see a dermatologist'. I wait a month to see the dermatologist and he schedules me for a biopsy and allergy tests. After all that my back still itched, I quit going to him, went to the drug store & bought hydrocortisone cream and haven't mentioned it to another doctor since then.

I use Tricare. The country's best socialized medicine.

Angeles is a well-regarded chain of hospitals in Mexico, but they only accept cash!

Walk into this facility and it'll be like walking into a 5-star hotel! It's located in the Rio Zona district, or as I call it the Americana district.

And while there get some cheap, quality dental work and stock up on your medications. I did that 3 weeks ago, stocked up on enough meds to last me 2 years!
Seriously? Go to Mexico for something as critical as knee or hip replacement? Not worth the risk.

If you go to the right place(s), surgeons are probably better than many of those found in the US. Hip replacement is a very common procedure.

Now, if you go to the wrong place, you may find yourself $10-$20k short and one less kidney.

This thread is scaring me. It sounds like it might get worse before it gets better. They seem to be back to building more houses and apts which means more people and not enough doctors.
