Any shooters out there who buy bulk ammo for the range? I was going to buy 1,000 rounds on-line and someone who I met at the range told me I should buy at the gun show, much cheaper. I started investigating the gun show and it's $14-$15 per person to go, so for the wife and I let's say $28.

If I factor the $28 into my purchase of say 1,000 9mm rounds would it be less than the .17 per round I can get online, including shipping from the comfort of my couch?

Thanks in advance!

Very few times I've found a better deal at a gun show. Online and Wal-Mart have been my go to's.

Online almost always beats in person.

Thanks, that's what I thought but this guy was adamant. Honestly, I've never been to a gun show so had nothing to compare the prices too.

The advantage of going to the gun show is that you might get to witness an ND.

You're going to be paying sales tax the gun show too. You're unlikely to find a better deal than than say, sgammo.com, even if you have to pay for shipping.

Also check out bonefroggunclub.com. They're local so you'll pay sales tax, but even then you may still save money. They don't have a local pick up option but shipping is often free.

You know about ammoseek.com, right?

gunbot.net is an aggregator of most of the online sources. It lets you set criteria such as price per round and also alerts you when a deal below your threshold becomes available. At the height of the .22 shortage when it was going for 30-75 cents a round, I routinely found it for .06/rd on gunbot. For the very best prices you need to pay attention and buy when the iron is hot, so to speak.

Thanks for all the tips guys. Moved here a couple of years ago and just started getting my guns out and hitting the range. Even thinking of getting out and doing some sort of upland game hunt next year. Thanks again!
