The police were outside the room at around 1019 and noted that the firing had stopped. They of course fear an ambush or a booby trap and waited for the SWAT Team. They then rigged an explosive device to open the door. They are at this point in no great hurry as the firing has stopped. I don't know what they would have done if the firing continued. Likely open fire through the door or walls. Half a dozen firing at the sound of gun fire would likely shut down the gunman.
Good info thanks.

As far as I'm concerned, we still don't know enough to make any kind of Real sense to why, how, he murdered this way.

The U.S. right now is in a toilet bowl of confusion with **** coming from all corners of the world.
I'm sadened from this atrocity for all those innocent folks who died and we're hurt.
But, sometimes having the TV , FB, and all social media turned OFF goes a long way for my soul and outlook on our country.
FB without question turn that one off I never watch TV news. So much less emotional to just read things and not see the alarmist partisan idiots argue and debate on TV.

I think there is good and bad to all the info we have today. The good is we don't have to rely just on only the mainstream media version of everything. The bad thing is so many other sources of information out there that can spread rumors, gossip, conspiracies, and who aren't held accountable to verify authenticity of what news they spread. I'll still take what we have today over 30 years ago though. I'd rather be able to use my own judgement with what I read vs. having to rely on whatever the few MSM outlets decide to filter and feed to us. But yeah, you have to cut this stuff off and have news fasts!

I stick with .gov and .edu sites. Everything I need to know can be found there.

Everything else needs to be cross checked with a large number of other sites.

EVERY news organization twists facts to further their narrative. I refuse to participate. I haven't had tv in about 10 years. I don't read the newspaper. I still seem to know just as much about the world as everyone else if not more so. Turn off the tv.

The author needs to loosen up his tin foil hat. It's cutting off the oxygen to his brain (and probably has for a long time.) Lotsa bull$hit in that article.

Your link is clickbait hype at best.....here is a quote from it:

Even highly trained Navy Seals would have a difficult time running a full auto weapon for 10 minutes straight. Such weapon systems are brutal on the operator. They require tremendous strength, stamina and expert troubleshooting to keep running. Full-auto weapons overheat and jam. They demand incredible strength to keep aimed on target. They require expert reloading and weapons clearing in the case of jams, and the hotel room would have been so full of smoke and powder residue that it would be almost impossible to keep breathing from that enclosed space.

This is false, the weapons were not running 10 minutes straight just listen to a tape. If a gun jammed then simply move on to the next one! Note 2 windows were broken out, would make for a great cross breeze no?
I know a 63 yr old that is a gun guy and easily could have pulled this off without breaking a sweat. The guns Paddock had are not hard hitting like a Barrett!

Dumb asses.
Where do you live that you are so full of fear? Will put you in an early grave. Was there a bump in crime while this tragedy is happening?

I'm more scared of cops than criminals. Especially in Nevada. They stole more from people than criminals.

What I want to know is why is there so little video of this?

Every time I drove by that festival I saw people over the fence recording it on their phones.
Every day I see people with go pros and ipads filming everything.
I see cellphones out recording everything. EVERY concert has thousands of cellphones recording it.
EVERY casino has a metric poop ton of camera recording everything.

Why is there so little footage of this? We have camera on redlights, telephone poles, parking garages, medians, etc etc etc.

Just saying "we need better security" doesn't work, because it's not specific.

We can all demand "BETTER".. but HOW? What is YOUR proposal?

[mod cut]

I think security needs to extend to the areas around the venue.
ALL venues need to have metal detectors and bag check before entry in to the venue.
The block around the venues that are commonly used for transit to and from the events have no vechile entry and be blocked off.

I go to a lot of events and am personally feeling more need to actually contact venues and my own local government to push for more rules regarding manditory levels of basic secutiry for concerts and other public events.

I have been to certain events this year and seriously need neverous.

For example we had events on Canada in my city and I have really worried in those big crowds, but was really happy with the efforts by police services to maintain very high security. They did certain things that I thought were brillant and certainly increased my level of confort. We can never remove all risks... but we need to work harder to minimize risks.

I can personally tell you hands down if I really wanted sneak a gun or other device in to concert or venue like that in my city I could do it with ease at certain venues or cerntain concerts. If I have figured that out it scared the hell out of me because that means someone else with bad intentions could too. So now I am actually feeling I have a responsibility to share this information with these venues to help then be aware of the risks and the gaps in their security.
