Raised one when I was first married. Had a ground floor unit and this poor little creature showed up on the ledge. We opened the window and he would come in. Feed him for 2 or 3 months then he vanished. He could even be picked up and stroked.

In CA we had a possum. Went out to the garage refrigerator late one evening in the dark to get milk. Reached for the refrigerator door and was staring into a big pair of eyes. Mama possum was on top of the frig. Discovered she was living off cat food in the garage. Put in an electronic cat door to stop that. Had to have a magnetic on your collar to get in.

I think you should edit your post and put a "don't try this at home disclaimer" on it, on the off chance someone reads it and trys to do the same thing

I had no idea raccoons were even around the valley.
Almost 20 years and have never seen one here!
Thanks for sharing, I will be keeping an eye out for them now.

In NYC, Central Park has a lot of them. I see them occasionally. I went to a wedding at the Boat House Restaurant in the park. Apparently there's a family of them that live under the deck of the the restaurant, and come out an beg from customers there.

I saw one randomly climbing on an apartment building fire escape in the middle of Manhattan.
