Welcome to Vegas. It's not unheard of here but it's not common either!

We moved into our new house in Silverado Ranch area two months ago. I have met one neighbor, only because we were at the mailbox at the same time. It is different here, for sure. We're not the most social pair, but nobody seems to go outside at all! The quietest neighborhood we have ever lived in! Welcome to Vegas!

Well, she went to the 3 closest neighbors with cake fresh cake

One was not even thank you and very rude. One was nice and talked to her a bit, and the third one was neutral.
Seems like that the event had average success

Bless you guys for trying!

My Pastor had a BBQ and gave away hot dogs.
He posted a sign a week in advance and folks stopped by.

I think part of the problem here is someone has to go first.
You may end up creating the very thing you want!

BRAVO!!!

Also Congrats on the home!

Happy to read your first attempt at friendliness was reasonably successful.

Tek Freek, I also live in SC Summerlin, 8 yrs now and we have never met. My neighbors had to know I was from out of town when a 60 feet moving van drove up and spent 2 days unloading. Every day that first week, I would get myself and 2 dogs gussied up, telling them, "Today I'm sure they will all be coming to meet us," but the week passed and that never happened. Eight years later, I can say I know a few. I don't think it is the culture of Las Vegas. I think it is a sign of the times. I found that through joining things I met people and now have many friends. I could pass a neighbor in a store and not know they were my neighbor. That's just how it seems to be now.

Same here. It is beyond my understanding. 3 years 1st 0f November. Our next door neighbor told us to expect it. She is an original owner of 20+ years.

We joined the Boomer Connection and go to most of the BYOB's and the Ethnic Dinner Club. We played Saturday bridge for a while, but got out of the habit. We need to go again. It was fun. We have friends who like to play games and haul us to all kinds of shows. And we haul them to other shows. Lol. Our first visit to California was with them. Laguna Beach area. What a blast! If life ever slows down (I thought I'd get to sit on my butt when I retired.) I want to try Bocce Ball and the Friday morning bowling.

If things ever slow down. We just had our house repiped because of a hot water pipe leak under the slab.

Michael2016, I advise you to try a few more times with, perhaps, other neighbors. As Robojester said, "Someone has to go first".

Invite neighbors to freebase cocaine in your crib; tell 'em it's a snort dope and MaryJane smokin' party with booze, bud, pretzels and fish 'n' chips.

A friend of mine in the Bay Area suffered re a somewhat similar incident. She got a call at work. It was from one of her neighbors. The neighbors had been out walking their dog. They walked in front of her house, and saw water leaking out from the bottom of the front door. my friend had to have all of the flooring removed, the bottom 18" or so of sheet rock cut out throughout the house, and have the slab area (where the leak was) 'jacked', the piping replaced, and the area repaired.

We tend to keep to ourselves here. It is a transient city. People come and go. People keep odd hours because they work in the casino industry. It's a different sort of town. So most people mind their own business when it comes to the neighbors. Only a rude person, or a weird person would reject an honest attempt at a greeting accompanied by cake though.

I've got a weirdo next door. I think she's an agoraphobic. She never comes outside. UPS mistakenly delivered one of her packages to my back patio instead of hers, and when I tried ( four times ) to give it to her, she would not answer her door. I finally took it to the office. Let the manager call her.

Perhaps we should fix that error.
