Imagine being jury that lasts several weeks. Does the court expect a person on jury duty to spend $$$ on Uber both ways on a daily basis? What does the court pay per day for Jury Duty? I know that for a one day session, $0.00.

$40 per day starting, I believe on the third day. And they do validate parking every day you have to show up!

There were jurors on my case who were disabled(using a walker) who had to take the bus every day.

They are serious about jury duty here. It's difficult to be excused beforehand. Once you're in the court room, based on what I've seen, it's pretty easy to be excused.
I don't think they take jury duty serious here at all,I'm a mailman and haven't noticed one lately but in the past these summons were sent using basically junk mail,if the person have moved we have no way of forwarding the summons to them.

I'd say I'm psychic and can tell they are guilty by looking at them.

We should have professional juries, this is someone's job they have been trained for. The average person isn't smart enough to make a good decision.

The alternative would be "trial by Judge alone ".

That is normal in other democratic countries. The theory is that a learned justice will be more able to take in and evaluate complex technical evidence, than a panel of 12 laymen. The sitting justice will also be subject to judicial review and appeals to the State Appellate Court , about the verdict rendered.

I would be in favour of a "educated juror system " that would be comprised of a pool of persons who have a superior level of formal education, as well as specific training in a field that relates to criminal law. That would result in better and more logical jury decisions, in my opinion.

XXX.

I called today. They said all my requests have been denied. They said to call when my summons says to, and report when and how they say. I guess they don't care if I have a wreck and worse. Really other transportation ideas are not an option. Don't think my job is too happy about it either. I have to be "on call" for three weeks. We don't even get that for vacation.

I live in a rural area. No bus, no cab service, no uber or lyft. If you don't drive, or know someone willing to take you, you don't go anywhere.

It's not a done deal yet. I've been summoned 3 times in the last 3 years and each time, the night before call has excused me.

I'm not in Vegas, but that's true in the Phoenix area too, and a lot of places. You may be worrying a lot over something that won't happen.

Same thing happens to me everytime I get a summons. A few years ago I got 3 or 4 in a row (Ridiculous) and they were all excused the night before. I have another summons for next Wednesday.
