I have jury duty in about two and a half weeks. By then, it will be dark at 4:30. I can't see to drive at night. I asked for a postponement till next spring or summer, but it got denied. I don't see how they think I can drive after court. Thinking about just not going. But worried what will happen.

Do not be a "no show."

Show up, explain to all court officials you must leave by XX to be home before dark because of a vision restriction.

They will just tell you to take public transport, uber, have a friend pickup/drop off.

They are serious about jury duty here. It's difficult to be excused beforehand. Once you're in the court room, based on what I've seen, it's pretty easy to be excused.

Ummm get a ride, uber etc?

"I don't see how they think I can drive after court." Huh? It's not the court's problem you can't see at night.

It's 2 weeks from now! Plenty of time to plan. HUGE mistake not to show up.

Unless you have something from your doctor they probably think you're lying.

Be careful admitting this as they may suspend your license until you can prove you are capable.

Two weeks from now is still daylight savings time so it will be dark well after 5.

I've lived for just over 12 years and have been called for Jury Duty five times. Four out of five times at the end of a very, very long day was not picked. Usually, the lawyers or Judge will ask a potential person to sit on a jury, "what is your level of education?" My answer, double Masters in Engineering. They say, thank you very much, you are "Excused". Las Vegas courts seem to not want a more educated person to sit on a jury - they want those who can be easily swayed.

Your Jury Summons here in Clark County comes on a post card. Who is to say that it did not get lost in the mail or mistaken for junk mail and tossed?
