Not sure if it's genuinely a tribute or someone kind of using the tragedy to gain some notoriety (the artist has been named in the latest news) but its worth a drive by to see IRL if you are already in that area...while it lasts. Photos I've seen really don't do it justice.

Is that the same area where there is/was an American Flag mural after 9/11?

Yes same general part of town but I ***believe*** the flag is on Buffalo...Tenaya is the next major cross street east of Buffalo.

LOL that's what I was thinking as well. I was really curious to see how obtrusive it actually was but surprisingly it doesn't look ridiculously out of place at all imho and it's not interfering with the sightline of any homes.

It's really quite amazing, and I'm a pretty tough critic of things especially when they involve the bending/breaking of any laws. I really hadn't expected to be at all pleasantly surprised.

I like the use of scale with the person in front of it to give you an idea of the enormity. It seems it's something you have to see in person. I'm not sure I like it just from pictures.

After looking at this I was thinking about how they got 58 trees in 4 days to put up a memorial garden and just how many that is. Even bigger than the span of graphic hearts on the wall.

I think the city should coat it with a clear protector like this. It should be preserved.

One other thing that's bothering me. Why does the title of the Fox news piece online say "1 October" shooting? One October? That's a weird way to reference it besides the alliteration. We usually say October First or October 1st. Their reference reminds me of the European way of dating things.

"Red October" would be more dramatic if they're going to make it stand out.

I did like what the artists had to say was the message behind his graffiti mural. That had heart.
