I can't believe minimum wage here is just $7.25 an hour. Slaving away for peanuts. I always thought it was around $9.50 an hour. I guess I got confused when lvdrunk used to say he worked for min wage at $9.50, but he just thought it was min wage.

Right. Cause an influx of illegal aliens who were willing to work for less than that has totally raised the standard of living in Las Vegas. Take it to the politics board with the other weird posts. Have a nice day.

Hi there.... You probably haven't thought about economics or business much... but that's ok.. most people haven't...

This has nothing to do "illegal aliens".

Basic economic truth and empirical evidence is clear on this...

Anytime the govt tries to control wages, rents, prices... things don't work ...

The "Free Market" is the best determinant of wages, prices and markets...

Just think about it over a glass of wine...

Morally speaking - why should anyone dictate how much you can pay someone to do a job, and why should anyone force you as a worker to take a set amount if you're willing to work for less...

Economically speaking - Anyone who's qualifications don't meet the "set" minimum - automatically becomes unemployed.

It's really quite simple common sense.

How's your wine?

Have a great day...

Post pretty much nonsense. The establishment of minimum requirements for employment including wages is a sensible and reasonable limit on the capitalist system.

Fully open ended capitalism leads to awful outcomes. And a defacto limit on employment opportunities exist whether the capitalist is regulated or not.

It is perfectly reasonable for the government to establish reasonable support for the citizenry including regulation of employment. Eventually we will likely see single payer medical and some level of income support.

Capitalism and the free market system is nonsense, or do you prefer a hybrid system, like China has...

The post is nonsense. Regulated capitalism and the free market is about the best that is available.

The feedback of the market simply is the best throttle every invented. None of the controlled systems can come anywhere near it.

I don't disagree with you...

I don't know your background or history.. so I'm not sure what angle you're coming from...

But I for one am against govt mandated minimum wage and rent control of any kind....

People are smart enough to sort themselves out...

I hope the rest of the country realizes that minimum wage laws hurt the poor and those who are starting off climbing the economic ladder.

Especially the good people of Nevada...

I've run a business for over 25years and studied economics and business extensively...

I have run big parts of large business for 35 years and smaller endeavor for 25 more. The fact you have bought in to some of the yoyo economics does not provide you with an expert position.

Proof of your lack of rational capability is your endorsement of Sowell who never had a non partisan thought.

I respectfully disagree w/ you...

It's not yoyo economics.

In the real world, SOCIALISM DOESN'T WORK.

On paper, these things look great, but in the real world, people know what's best for themselves and act accordingly...

I buy, you sell.. and vice versa... we trade.... and get along....

Everyone has the right to make their own decisions.

Don't buy into the LIE that an organization, govt or some group has your best interest in mind...

You know what's best for you... That's the free market... that's free and open "trade".
