I’ve generally decided Las Vegas over Phoenix for my move in August. So, unless something has happens in the economy that impacts my job, I will probably move either at the end of August or, the 2nd week of September from Seattle.

I am flying to LV in a couple of weeks to conduct another tour of the general areas of LV to live. Last time, I stayed at a motel in Summerlin and this time I'll stay out in Henderson. I don’t gamble so I’m not concerned with being near the strip from that point of view.

The gist of my question boils down to this: What’s difference between living in Henderson and any of the nicer areas of LV e.g., Summerlin/Alainte/Green Valley etc.?? I work out of my home and travel bi- weekly on average to LA/SF/PHX/SLC/DEN so I don’t have a commute within LV. Homes to rent (which applies to me) seem a little less per month in Henderson but it also seems pretty far removed from these LV areas I mentioned (frankly not sure what that has to do with anything). Crime stats seem to be lower on average in Henderson. The only negative I see is the blight off the freeway that appears to be some kind of mill. Another possible negative is that I am single and perhaps Henderson is a little too Pleasantville but that’s probably not a fair statement.

Thanks for your input.

I personally think you will be hard pressed to tell the difference. A little edge to Henderson, particularly around Green Valley for the commute to the airport. No more than 5 minutes though. I would think little difference between Henderson and Summerlin otherwise. For singles you might do better in the South Strip. Not as nice as the other two though...younger and more "in".

Aliante is too far from the airport. You'd do better to stay in/near area's that olecapt mentioned.

Hi, olecapt,
Could you tell me why you never recommend seven hills? Is there anything not good there? Thank you!

Ohh my...no no. I think seven hills is very nice. Personally I like it better than anywhere else in Henderson and most of Summerlin.

It is however not really very large. So you get into the "next" level to deal with it. And at that level there are a significant number of places.

Remember I am also a west side snob...because 90% of what I sell is on the west side. So I tend to run the southeast and south together. Viewing from a distance as it were.

With a few exceptions seven hills is expensive. That mostly keeps it off the view of those who use this list.

I do tend to follow Anthem a lot closer...I do a lot of work with the older restricted communities.

Thank you, I like seven hills very much.
Do you think how much it will be for a 10-year old house of 2900sqft, 6000sqft lot worth in seven hills?

I hate Seven Hills, lived there for many years, there is a lot of traffic, it is far from anything, the neighbors are very standoffish, and basically the only ways out are through school zones...
