If you hate Vegas so much, and you've never even been here, why do even bother posting on this board? It's bad for your blood pressure. If you're not careful, you'll pop what few brain cells you have left. Pull the bug out of your arse, and go peddle your papers elsewhere.

Aw, do we have to close it GJ? It's amazing to read the posts of a person who makes Bush look like a Rhodes Scholar. Let's have another pint while we shake our heads.

that being said, anything w/ altitude will still be a bit chilly in april (ABQ is basically the same altitude as denver, so it might have a chill there as well).

if nothing else, enjoy the food. i miss it immensely (hopefully i will get some time to drive out and get me a sack of chile before the harvest is over). get some carne adovada and don't forget the sopapillas...can't really find either outside the state (you'll find facsimiles, but not quite the real thing).
gj, I've never known the tram to close for a season. They use it all winter for the skiers.

didn't know that...i don't remember skiing sandia (there are pics, but i was just a kid). but if open, the views from the tram, as well as the summit are great.

WA 2 years ago and last year it was Perry, GA which was too far to make. The Rally 2009

We will be RV camping on the grounds but usually rent a car to see the local sights. So if there is any "must sees" in the area you can pass on a couple.
I'm not from there but I lived there for 3 years, and I go there on vacations a lot. Off the top of my head I'd say the worlds longest tram is the #1 must see attraction. Like gj said, take a jacket. The top is over 10,000 feet and in April there might still be snow up there.

Other "must sees" are Old Town, the Hot Air Ballooning Museum, several other museums, a zoo, and Santa Fe. Santa Fe is an hours easy drive, and everyone should go to Santa Fe at least once in their lives. Walk around the plaza, check out seven different museums, and be sure to see miracle staircase at Loretto Chapel. The Mysterious Staircase, Santa Fe, New Mexico

Hit the art galleries on Canyon Road, and have dinner at one of the 173 restaurants which are all good. Santa Fe is a small town, but it is the third largest art market in the U.S., and has a world class opera. A drive up the mountain towards Santa Fe's ski area is really beautiful, but if there is time, a better drive is the high road to Taos.

My favorite restaurant is Cafe Pasqual's, especially for breakfast or brunch. Try the HUEVOS MOTULEÑOS and you'll be thanking me forever. About Cafe Pasqual's - Fine Dining in Santa Fe, New Mexico (http://www.pasquals.com/about.html - broken link) It's a tiny place that everyone goes to so you'll crowd your way in to get on the list, then wait outside to be called, but it's well worth it. If they ask if you'll take the community table, take it. It's fun.

Just north of Santa Fe a little ways is the road to Los Alamos. I can't remember the exact directions but you can follow the signs to Bandelier Nat'l Monument. It's worth the trip too. Bandelier National Monument (U.S. National Park Service)

The turn off to Los Alamos is to the left, but if you go to the right you'll be able to work your way over to Chimayó where Rancho de Chimayó, the best restaurant in the state, is located. It's Robert Redford's favorite too (except I also heard that about Rancho Encantado). And if you're looking for a miracle cure (or not) you'll want to see the old church. Chimayó (http://chimayo.org/index.html - broken link)

In Albuquerque, if you like very hot food, Sadie's on 4th St. is the place. But the best restaurant in Alb. is El Pinto, also on 4th but further north. Whatever you do, do as GJ said and have carne adovada someplace. You can get that at Garduño's in the Fiesta, or the Palms, but I think they don't do as good a job as the original Garduño's in Alb. Most of the restaurants in Old Town are very good too. If you get a chance, go to the Range Cafe in Bernalillo. Great food for any meal.

There's more but I've already got a start on New Mexico travel book here.

It's not good skiing but it's only a 20 minute tramride away. If it isn't icy it's fun. Almost as good as Lee Canyon but not quite. The restaurant on top is very good too. But then Albuquerque doesn't allow any bad restaurants.

Im a Hippy Cafe vegetarian kind of fool. I do eat seafood most of the time too.
