I hope Caesars does sell the Rio. Didn't the Marnell family build it? Maybe they'd buy it back. They did a much better job with it than Harrah's / Caesars.

Getting back to the original subject. An average MLB team has operating income of 29 million. I'd bet the right operator could beat that with the casino.

It wouldn't surprise me that Caesars WANTS to do it and compete with MGM in the professional sports arena. But do they have the capital, the backing of the city, the interest in a team??? I doubt this is much more than a pipe dream. A team someday, but not here now like this.

A minor league team just got a new beautiful stadium in summerlin, a pro team will be well planned out.

I like Rio of late. It's improved lately, and the rooms are all remodeled. Easy free rooms anytime

Their resort fee though! I think it was 30 bucks last time I stayed there!

What's progress in Las Vegas without the sounds of dynamite going off!!! Just be lucky this city, long ago, didn't have the hysterical historical preservationists that other cities have, as the Dunes and the Desert Inn would still be standing as well as the Landmark tower, and many others.

It should happen. It's all about Vegas taking another step and expanding it's entertainment platform.

What other cities have protected buildings that were mob involved?

Chicago?

If this works out, Caesars, Boyd, Station Casinos and MGM all would have a property within 1 mile or so of the stadium. Tell me that's not an everyone wins, cater to all resorts moment.

I'm not even looking at it like that.
The strip it makes sense to bulldoze and start over. Land is at a minimum there. I really don't care about the rio at all. Bulldoze it for all I care.

The Rio is off strip and there's other much cheaper properties that are just as close and with much less to bulldoze.

The Palace Station is off-Strip and seems to be doing quite well, given their recent expansion.
