Bottom quarter - Don't go there.

Look at the accountability reports.

https://www.ccsd.net/schools/account...ity_Report.pdf

Go to page 177.

That same report gives you demographics for each school if you dig around a bit.

I taught there in 1999. There is a nice-ish neighborhood nearby, but I am not sure if they are zoned for Cashman. The admin has completely changed since was there, regardless, it was a tough, tough assignment. It was quite sad.

I know there is a refugee center near there. You think it will be terrible for a teacher?

Cashman is 80% free lunch and 25% English Learner. That says very poor and immigrant rich.

Stable though. Turnover is 20% which is under the state and CCSD average.

But if I am coming from another state with 100% free lunch and 100% minority in my school...

You would likely feel at home if the old minority was Hispanic.

But that is actually irrelevant. You can do much better in Las Vegas if you wish to.

But if looking for a teaching job, and that is what is offered, after the school year has already started...?

That is a different story. Go for it particularly if you have the experience to deal with the situation. There is a little violence but not outrageous. And the stability should help the teacher experience.

You will definitely get your "sea legs" there.

It looks like they have made it into a magnet school. That can be good. It is a tough neighborhood. When I was hired on in the CCSD, there was an unwritten rule you could not turn down your first offer. If you did, you would not be hired at all.

I did see a teacher who was there when I was there and we were pretty good friends at the time.
