We are not union. Base salary is 15 an hour. My hours are very flexible. I told my boss last week that I just wasn't feeling like coming in and he has more people waiting to fill my spot.
I am an off duty police officer (but I won't go into that any farther in light of past events on this board). I have my Sheriffs card already because of my current position. The TAM card is simple to get. There is a class online that is way easy. Pay, pass, and get your card.
As for the money. Our door guy makes nowhere near what Pure's does because we pool. Most clubs pool from what I hear. It keeps things fair I feel. Nobody is undercutting anyone else and everyone works together.

But most I will work two. Every tip brought into the place is pooled. So our doorman who gets slipped 1k 5 or 6 times a night goes along with the servers who may make 200 to 300 a table and so on. I was tipped 1k just last saturday for moving someone to the front of the restroom line. When pooled, we all took home about 700 for the night. And yes, we declare them to the IRS.

$1K wow...and you only got 700...not bad...sounds fair to pool it together...do u guys make sure people are pooling their tips? so those guys with $1K r not keeping "extra"?

Wow, you guys make some very good money out there! I'm just curious though~since you don't work fulltime jobs, what do you do for benies (i.e. health insurance, etc)?

Night Club jobs are inherently transient. None of these places have five year lifespans. The Casinos however provide good long term jobs with all the benefits.
Those who work things like night clubs are on the hook to provide their own benefits...and many really make enough to do so. How many actually do is left as an exercise for the student.

Ok, I understand now. Thanks for the explanation. I can imagine you have a huge turnover in people over there.

Certainly true in such fields as night clubs and exotic dance places. Pretty much untrue in Casinos. There is some job motion but it is mostly up the pecking order. Those in a low level casino move to a moderate level one while those folk try to move to the high end places. In general the bucks increase as you go up. Many of the jobs are union and the base pay includes reasonable benefits.
Note that people often move from one night club to the next. Tends to be somewhat cultish toward youth though. So you may be over the hill in that circuit by 30.

Over 30? Guess that leaves this chic out. Does the same apply to casinos?
I'm actually just browsing the LV forum because we have a vacation credit and everyone tells us we HAVE to see Vegas at least once in our lives. It looks like a beautiful place, but alas~I don't think we'd fit in there as far as actually living there. We've always lived in the same area~upper Midwest/High Plains, BUT we are really thinking that it'd be a neat place to visit.
