Crimemapping.com choose graffiti off the list. FWIW this is underreported but should give you some idea. Graffiti happens literally everywhere in Vegas so far as I have seen but the better areas will paint it over immediately.

UNLV isn't exactly an ivy league establishment. Unless you plan to go into hospitality or get a degree in sociology there isn't much else going on there.

I'm sure they probably have some frats or sororities of some kind, but I haven't heard of any houses. If anything they just pile into a rental somewhere or live at home with Mom and Dad until they either leave the state or get a job on the strip.

Damn. That just sounds so depressing but pretty accurate.

Lol this reminds me of when I first tried to convince my GF to move to Vegas, go to UNLV, and she said, “Is UNLV a good school?” I kind of smiled sheepishly, “Well any school is what you make it, you know?” “No I’m serious is it considered good?” “Well it’s the #1 hospitality major school in the country!” The discussion didn’t go so far or well after that, when I had to admit it’s not really considered a great school.

Some of these questions make me laugh, I mean you can’t look in Vegas for what is in a traditional city because you might not find it in the same way. Sure there are young, hip people anywhere but they might not always be concentrated in any one area.

Dont they have STEM students? Is UNLV thought of as a commuter school then?

STEM isn't much of a thing here although there have been some recent developments in terms of medical at UNLV, and I know one of their goals is to further develop that program. There is a huge shortage of qualified people in the medical professions, here in LV.

Yeah that would be fantastic for the city, really important I think going forward, if they can continue to advance the medical school that I heard was growing. Vegas is such a perfect place for a lot of businesses, to be close to California but in a no income tax state with some of the most favorable business laws in the country, and reasonable housing costs, good infrastructure, and a growing sense of community, but the key is attracting the best talent to the area and growing beyond the service industry. The city has taken good steps in that direction but it's always tough to diversify especially when you have something as world class and enormous as The Strip sitting right there, making sure that the city will always be somewhat of a service-industry city, at least.

If you want to make UNLV a better school, and advance the medical programs there, that will require social investment on the part of Nevada residents!

And, in almost every one your posts, you have squealed the loudest against social investment as it clashes with your "libertarian" outlook on everything.

You can't have it both ways.

Just food for thought...

Is UNLV Publicly operated? I thought it was privately run? Why would a privately run college need socialism to prop it up?
