No. My youngest daughter attended Hyde Park for her Middle School years. She was fortunate to have been selected in the lottery. The magnet students and zoned kids are segregated by the classes they take.

Thanks - That makes the Hyde Park renaissance even more spectacular. How do you carry an inner city school population and still make the top ten in the city?

I was impressed assuming it was all magnet.

Most of these kids attend Clark HS after Hyde Park. Clark consistently produces the highest number of National Merit Scholar semi-finalists in the state. This year they had 25 national merit semi-finalists breaking another record.

For Hyde Park MS: Is the lottery based on student's grades only? Or are they taking into consideration other factors?

Is the Hyde Park MS too hard for a regular or average kid (A/B honor roll) ? (Coming from Louisiana, our Education system isn't the best)

Is everyday homework take hours & hours to finish? Tons of projects?...etc.

25!?

I think in my national merit group at Clark I was 1 of 6.

It is only in the last few years...I think it may well be the Hyde Park feeder coming on line. As a percentage second only to Meadows. And up there with such places as Palo Alto High School. Can't be true though...everyone knows Las Vegas schools stink.

1. There are no qualification requirements for elementary and middle school applicants for the lottery. For high school magnet programs they have separate criteria.

2. I would say it depends on your child and study habits. They do have 2 levels of curriculum for magnet students based on initial test scores upon acceptance.

3.Expect your child to have several hours of homework each night.

Del Webb MS: both my kids attended DW. DW parents get involved with school activities, they do have an excellent music and choir class, honors teachers care for children (parents being involved or outspoken).

They do have before/after school care program through the city of Henderson.
