The answer is pretty simple, really. Metro/Hendo/NLV PD need to be doing neighborhood patrols. The presence acts as a deterrent.

I don't necessarily want to live in a police state but it's a serious problem when there is basically zero presence at all.

Without a presence we are all just sitting ducks for the trash moving in from LA.

I've had to call the cops twice in the past 12 months. Both times they arrived within 5 mins (I would guess 2 mins each time). I used 311, both times were in the early hours so maybe that explains the quick response, but I was mightily impressed.

Which department? Metro serves my area and has a less than 50% response rate. Unless someone has a gun, the shortest response I've seen was 30 minutes for an active break-in and 3.5 hours for towing vehicles blocking driveways (I live on a county street). All response times are utterly ridiculous compared to my experience in every other city I've lived in.

They didn't even show for a 25 person brawl going on in the street outside a completely out of hand house party.

I've never been placed on hold calling 911 or 311 in any other city I've lived in.

The local command is 2 blocks from my house

When my daughter went missing the scumbags took 3 hours to show.

When I got tboned on DI, wife went to the er. The kids and I were waiting for 2 hours on the side of the road. Cars passing. Our cars blocking lanes. Cops drove by and ignored it. We froze for 2 damn hours waiting for a cop.

If insurance didn't want a police report I'd never call the cops again.

I find that LVMPD in my area, Summerlin, does a fantastic job. I regularly see officers patrolling my area.

I have noticed a greater presence when I have been up in that area. My question is, why aren't they doing this everywhere?

I would switch the map to "Property Crime", which I think illustrates it better, but you'll notice an interesting correlation between the property crime rates of the 2 jurisdictions not run by Metro, with only "South Summerlin" being the anomaly in Metro Jurisdiction.

There is nothing wrong with a cop having a beat, by foot or by car. It was always that way growing up. And quite the deterrent.

I’ve had my own nose broken by the cops here. On my own property. The guy grabbed me by the hair and bounced my face off my own vehicle, in my driveway . I committed no crime, I just pissed him off.
