Any that folks just moving to town might not here about?

EVERY Saturday morning there's 2 car shows. One is currently at the Shelby museum the other is off Eastern and 215 at the Twin Peaks.

The second sunday of every month there's espresso and exotics at Boca park.

Then there's various other car shows scattered about. Hellkat was putting on a strip cruise and meet up not sure if that's still going on or not. It's usually on saturday night.

There's a couple of wed night car shows. West side wed and and the sonic cruise in.

There's a new one Clutches and coffee (even though most of those cars are auto, lame lol) that's put on by Hellkat and usually gets quite a few nice cars.

There's a couple rat rod shows every year. There's the haunted hearse show and Hellkats halloween show.
If you have kids, hellkats halloween show is awesome. I've taken my kids the past 6 years. Last year they filled up 2 buckets and we didn't even get to every car. There's live bands playing and it's a nice safe environment.

For hard rock/metal/80's hair bands -

Counts Vamp'd Vegas - Home - Count's Vamp'd - Eat, Drink, Rock! - Las Vegas, Nevada
Vinyl @ Hard Rock Hotel
Brooklyn Bowl (royal pain in the a s s to get to)
Backstage Bar and Billards: Home - Backstage Bar & Billiards
Outside/out front of Nine Fine Irishmen outside NYNY Hotel has some fun local bands
House of Blues inside Mandalay Bay is always my favorite
Double Down Saloon - always free, but terribly smoky (like most of Vegas)

You could go to a car show almost every night of the week if you wanted to. The one EA mentioned is the Celebrity Cars Show in Henderson, in the strip mall off of Eastern & Richmar from 7 to 10 am every Saturday. My club, Southern Nevada Camaro Club, is there every week parked in front of Twin Peaks. There is probably 200+ cars there every Saturday.

We also go to one put on by Vegas Meets on Wednesdays. That one seems to move around but is held mostly on the west side of town. There is Third Thursday Car Show + Art Festival at Village Square up near Summerlin. That one is pretty good and has some family stuff.

Hellkat Racers still does the Strip cruise, but it's not every week. Boulder City puts on a few shows every year that are good. Their Labor Day car show & festival last year was great.

Cheapest way to see movies in Vegas is still the cheapest way in many U.S. cities, AMC's A-list, $20/month, 3 movies a week in any format, IMAX, 3D, doesn't matter. You really can't beat that pricing. I see 4-8 movies per month and every major IMAX release. Granted, if you're across town from the better AMC, maybe it's not as good of a deal, but still worth knowing about anyway.

Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction comes here usually in late October at Mandalay Bay. Mecum has been here too, but I don't know when they are returning. There is also occasionally an auto show at the Las Vegas Convention Center with all of the newest models.

As far as food, the San Gennaro Festival is usually held in September, with Italian food from all over the valley.
