pahrump has a population of ~38k. local good paying jobs are hard to come by & we are mostly a retirement community, so yes there is a large majority that commute to vegas

main employers in town:
county
school district
hospital
detention center

Pahrump sucks, unless you are into crystal meth. I would pick mesquite. St. George is a bit of a drive, but its a pretty nice place.

I live in Pahrump part time. (Working on the retirement house) It's not a bad community. It could use a few more restaurants but I have to say it's pretty nice not having neighbors 25 feet to each side of you and 45 feet behind you. It is definitely dusty compared to Vegas though. You get a lot of house and property for the money. The commute has grown on me. Gas is 60 cents cheaper compared to the Terribles close to my Vegas property, so the commute ends up being about $11 round trip from one house to the other.

Before the construction started it was about 52 minutes from 215 and Charleston to Homestead road. A little over an hour with all of the construction going on.

What a baffling and inaccurate statement.

St. George got the Lion's share of the radioactive fallout from the atomic era. Something to keep in mind.

Mesquite looks like just another housing development. Pahrump looks more rural with more land and space around the houses.
