My father told me about being stationed in Arizona in the Army for a while during World War II. He jumped out of bed one morning and pulled his boots on, and there was a scorpion inside one of them.

This is just a random question related to the topic, but how often do good exterminators come to spray in Las Vegas? I only ask because I have one currently in Oregon and they just come every 3 months, mainly because we don't have a lot of crazy insects here, just your run-of-the-mill house spiders, ants, and maybe hornets I suppose. Here, every 3 months is plenty, but I know my dad sprays his house in Cabo every month for cockroaches and whatnot, is it also every month in Vegas typically?

I've been here over 5 years now and I've yet to see a Scorpion. I have seen lots of geckos, flying cockroaches, coyotes, lizards, the neighborhood feral cat that loves my palms, a centipede, and a couple years ago when they were in season - tarantulas.

I normally spray a barrier around my house around springtime when the rains stop and again in the fall after monsoon season and that seems to be enough to keep the roaches out. I haven't found anything else crawling around inside my home.

I would say that, in Las Vegas, scorpions are far down on a list of things to fear. Relax.
