Hi,
I just got my dream job at Las Vegas, and am about to relocate from out-of-state to NV for it. It is one of those jobs where you prove your worth by the results you produce, and a job that I truly enjoy doing. So, I am mostly needing a storage area for my stuff, and enough space for me to sleep when I HAVE TO go home. Therefore I have limited amenities needs since most of my days will be spent not in my apartment. A cheap and safe place is good enough for me.
I am also going to drive A LOT, all my gas paid for, so living further away from the city center is not that big of a deal at all. I also came from Los Angeles, and I doubt Las Vegas traffic is even close to as bad as L.A.
Lastly, I probably won't be visiting the casinos or any tourist attractions for a while. I am going to first prove my worth, get my promotions, then do the rest. So, access to entertainment is not something I am concerned about at all.
So, can you tell me what cheap, relatively safe areas I can find great apartments? And what cheap areas I should avoid because it is not safe?
Thanks!

1. Budget amount.
Would like less than $750 a month
2. House/Condo/Townhome?
Studio Apartment.
3. Employment Status (commute/work from home). Location of workplace.
Employed, travel a lot, location is near Summerlin
4. Children (Public school vs. Private).
None
5. Suburban or Urban lifestyle preference or a mix of the two.
I like the quietness of rural areas. But I'd probably be too tired in the end of the day to care about the noise.
6. Access to public transit, important or not?
No
7. Cross streets (especially important in threads about crime).
No concern.

can you still get an apartment in Vegas for 750? definitely not in a desired area. Nellis, Letter Streets, Boulder Highway. maybe a room in a house.

I have a friend who lives at flamingo and Decatur.. pays 800 for a tiny studio

$750 is on the low end these day with the current rents in Vegas. Your looking at $925 these days for an average 1 bedroom in North Las Vegas.

I agree with this post having had my trial by fire in desolate Vegas Heights.

Bet you could find a nice furnished room for about 600.00. Just a suggestion if you just need a place to crash.

Based on talking with co-workers if you could go up to say 900.00, you could get a decent place in a livable neighborhood.

A coworker just got an apartment on Flamingo or Tropicana, can't remember which for 880.00 with good amenities, even a fireplace. Cross street is Decatur.

Prices have gone up in Las Vegas since two years ago when we lived there. The area I'd recommend for you is NW. Safe, lots of grocery shopping amenities, affordable and easy access to highways.

Used to be you could rent a one bedroom at San Moritz for $750. I just checked and now it's $1000+. I still recommend that place. https://www.sanmoritzlv.com

There are several options for places to rent in this area. Intersection is Buffalo and Washington. Also look along buffalo heading north and along Rainbow and Washington heading north. Along Rainbow it might be cheaper.

The Flamingo area along the 215 is also good. The other area is SW where lots of students live. Maybe you could get a roommate if budget is an issue.

750 is pretty low these days. Like airics said, you'll be renting in places that are ratty at that price point unless you snag a deal.

In 2017, I paid around $900 for a better area of town. These are not the best communities in 89103 zip, but I've lived in this area for 2 years and never seen anything horrible occur.

Here's the link:

Finding $750 in a decent area of town here is not gonna be a common find.

Just for fun here is all the rentals in the MLS below 900 and west of the strip. There actually is one in Centennial Hills though it is at 900.

I would look at the ones around the Rock Springs area...where Summerlin Pkwy and 95 meet. Livable area and livable housing. I would also avoid anything east of Decatur. Even for the urban wise it gets colorful.

This is of course the MLS and will not pick up the general apartments and rentable rooms.

I live in Henderson and my rent increased $94 a month. I renewed for 24 months. Otherwise it would have been $200 per month for 12 months.
My coworker got $450 per month increase in her rent and is looking. This used to be inexpensive but rents are sky high.
