why not keep 10k in the checking and the rest in a high yield savings account? with 30k @ 2.2% interest you can get ~$55 a month.

I used to gamble often when I first move to Vegas but it became exhausting. Casinos always have the edge, and the more you play the more it follows the statistics.
The thing is I tried the stock market for a while and it suddenly hit a 30 year low. This was in the late fall with all the issues with China and the fluctuations drove me crazy.

I don't get why a credit card company can charge 20 percent and if I want to put my cash in a money market, I get two percent. I have this fixation lately on staying as liquid as possible because at 48, I now realize how unpredictable life is and circumstances can change. And then I thought two percent a month on say 10k would be like 250.00 a month until I realized it was two percent earned annually. I know it sounds dumb, but that is what I thought at first. I had a great job at Blue Cross in Minneapolis, thought it would be my last job. Well, that did not happen and instead of wearing suits to work, I became dependent on the good will of family. I finally got out of that miserable town in Wisconsin and came here and most of you know the rest of the narrative. 2014 to 2018 was a living nightmare for me and words cannot describe it. I am talking zero income and multiple credit card defaults. It was a harsh lesson and now I take very little for granted.

Sometimes bizarre things happen to good people like me ending up on the news all over the country. That innocuous cigarette incident along with the neurological problem cost me that Saturday job which I liked.
I got my head together quickly enough to not lose my primary job, which will be a year on the 16th.

On paper, you have the right idea and a capitol one money market will let you earn 2 percent on a balance of 10k or more.

I bet I would have 50k right now if I had never started gambling in the first place but I have scaled it way back, Wednesday was a holiday splurge to blow off steam after a very bad stretch of three weeks. Lucky to basically break even. A person can easily blow through a grand in a few hours on the slots.

If you think the stock market hit a 30 year low in the fall, you really should stay away from all investing, and anything regarding money.

I don't understand why banks like wells fargo don't offer better terms on their savings accounts.

And Commander, I don't know if it was an insult, but you can be my wing man any day.

Are you a handyman or have a floor scrubber, do you have references or a website?

Might as well start taking bids for 8-01. I have to work and I'm a wimp.

I also may need an interior decorator if this room is as big as I think. Don't want a bunch of empty space.

Maybe September.

because the money they are loaning out cheap at 4% is lower risk (mortgage)... credit cards are high risk

2.2% savings account? LOL.

(1) Deposit money offshore at a sports book, take the 25% bonus.

(2) Bet something in Vegas at a good number (SJ Sharks -125).

(3) Bet the other side offshore (Vegas +125).

Repeat until all your money is lost offshore, or your rollover is complete and you can withdraw.

25% ROI every deposit + casino comps.

While I'm not averse to dead presidents, I prefer the dead postmaster general in my wallet. But that's just me.

Me too, although with a bad back & leg, my help would have been limited to supervisory tasks.

Well, I am open to suggestions, just don't want a thief or a felon. Now I have to have an MRI after work on the first, so that doesn't help. The heavy items are as follows: a queen size platform bed (no box spring), a 2.2 cubic foot mini fridge, a 2.0 cubic foot mini freezer, and a three drawer medium sized dresser.

I would be willing to pay 75.00 for a thorough floor scrubbing of the tile floors once the items are moved upstairs. I think I have until the 3rd. Lots of loose clutter and clothes strewn helter skelter.

I am just a chronic worrier and want to be prepared because this is a huge upgrade.

And then of course disassembly and reassembly of the platform bed which I have no clue on stuff like that.

I have never been a blue collar guy, just a middle aged exceptionally intelligent nerd. I live in North Las Vegas just north of Alexander, south of Craig, right past the Wal Mart near MLK.

The guy I said I had lined up has not been very responsive, so all bets are off at this point. I work full time, walk in triple digit weather, ride the bus, so usually gone from about 6am to 6pm. Mon-Fri.

Please no smart ass remarks. I have money to spend and I just don't want the aggravation especially while I'm focused on the Cleveland Clinic and solving this health problem.

I have three weeks, so no big rush or need to pay top dollar at this stage. I would be at work, give you the house door code and let someone or more than one person go to town. Yes, sometimes I am a spoiled little bi***, but at my age I no longer care what anyone thinks about that fact.

Thanks for reading and here's to my second full summer in Las Vegas!
