Does the novelty wear off, or do you go regularly for dinners, shows, etc?

Locals tend to get to The Strip most often when family is in town. Outside of that, I would say it is mostly for dinner or an occasional show (if you have saved money in your piggy bank).

My wife and I seldom go to the Strip without a reason, like giving company a tour, or a particular show we want to see. We do go to the Fashion Show Mall, or the Miracle Mile, to shop now and then. When Las Vegas was a small town, and I was single, I was there all the time hanging out, or just cruising, although I seldom gambled. It was about all we had to do, and it was where most of the restaurants were. There were also a lot of free lounge shows where a lot of stars performed. Mainly it was a place to have dinner and meet friends. Company Christmas parties were always in a hotel, as were meetings and local events. As the town grew the Strip got more congested, the lounge shows went away, and more local restaurants sprang up, so the reasons to go there became less, at least for me; and I imagine a lot of locals feel the same way. I still enjoy the Strip, but it's too much of a hassle to spend a lot of time there.

I agree with the others. Most of us never go to the strip unless family comes to visit. The locals who do gamble usually go to the off strip casinos which are less hustle bustle.

These days the only time I go to the strip is for a concert but we cut way back on that too. The concert prices are in orbit here. The buffets are all over $10 and usually $15 on up so again, the off strip casinos are the better bet for locals for food too.

And if you ever saw the traffic jam on the strip on any given summer night, that alone is reason enough to stay away.

Pretty much only when we are dragged there. In January I had family visiting and that's the last time I was there. Before that...oh...let me see.....maybe 6 months or more? If I go anywhere its GVR because its on my side and of town and I like the District. My dh and I really don't like to gamble so the only thing to lure us onto the strip is a show or concert. Maybe a UFC fight. That's it. Oh, and I was in the Wynn for the very first time this January. It's been around how long now?

I only go to the strip when company is in town. Sometimes we lure company to the local casino's instead and never get to the strip. Less hassle trying to find a parking spot.
