If you really want to scratch that "desert exploration" itch, you may as well drive to Tonopah. You'll pass a couple ghost towns and old-timey relics along the way, and Tonopah itself at least has the clown motel (which I've stayed in) and the old adjacent cemetery. It's worth a day trip if you're bored.

Here is an alternative just up the road a ways, and you can by some alien jerky to munch on, on the super long boring ride back home.

Plus, the "Storm Area 51" joke is now well over a million people that want to do it. I would love to see the powers that be at the base that does not exist try to kill a million people at once. I doubt that they could.

Looks like a real party is being planned by locals due to interest from Storm Area 51. The hotel is already booked up and the tour group is in over flow. Three bands are coming and there's 30 acres of extra camping spots. I guess if you want to see it OP with alien enthusiasts then 9/20 is the day to go out there. I bet people will show up in costume and bring their homemade alien ships for a parade. They estimate 25,000 people are going.

Here you go OP. The local news did a recent story and this is what's out there. Looks like businesses are planning for a party at each end of it.

I think I'm gonna actually go and camp out there now that there's a big party planned. Just need to get some gear. I think it will be fun and I don't expect anything like it for awhile. Kind of a once in a lifetime experience. Nor do I think anyone is serious about storming the base.
