I was at work outside on a smoke break with my coworker yesterday (Tues, July 23) when all of a sudden the most putrid, rotting-corpse smell appeared out of nowhere and seemed to be carried in the wind. The smell would linger for a few minutes and then completely disappear. Then it would come back again. Then sometimes it would be followed by a distinctly different "dumpster juice" smell. The cycle kept repeating for a period of about 15-20 mins. We attempted to locate the source of the smell by searching around the four sides of the building, but we found nothing. We thought perhaps one of the local homeless people may have kicked the bucket and we were smelling decaying flesh, but we found nothing.

This was in 89139 near the intersection of Rainbow BLVD & Windmill Rd.

Anybody else experience this?

Maybe it was some idiot smoking that skunkweed. That smells like something died.

Did you check under your house? Could an animal have died under there?

It's called Summer time in Las Vegas. LOL!

I've noticed that same smell on Rainbow up north every summer around this time. I think it comes from the hot heat in the sewers and we catch whiffs of it. Sometimes it lingers for awhile.

It probably was something dead...a coyote, or someone's dog....has to be something fairly large ....and yes, it's an awful odor!
