Hi. Can't believe that I am back asking about Primary Care doctors, I thought that I was all set. Unfortunately, in 2018, I had the opportunity to need mine and I did not get referrals in a timely fashion which caused more extensive surgeries.
I checked the current Yelp reviews for my current primary and they all talk about her Botox injections. I am on straight Medicare with a supplement. Her wellness part of the practice seems quite lucrative but perhaps it is infringing upon her Primary Medicine focus, not sure. I am happy with my specialists (I have an autoimmune condition) but I do occasionally need a primary. I can not afford Concierge medicine and perhaps not a doctor who has a large interest in cosmetic procedures.
In the past, I have had positive experiences with Osteopaths. Has anyone heard of Dr Rulon Owen (DO)?
Any other suggestions are welcome. Butler Family Medicine, in Summerlin, is a good lead. Found it while doing a search in this forum. I live outside Summerlin, the Lakes and Peccole Ranch. Near Charleston and Buffalo.

Thanks in Advance.

There is no longer much of a difference between a D.O. and an M.D.

I have several friends from my college days who happen to be Interventional Cardiologists at Cedars-Sinai (West LA) and the inside "joke" about DO's is that you go that route if your scores on the MCAT are not the best.
For me, I avoid DO's, NP's & PA's for regular checkups. Emergency room stuff, that is a different story (no choice)...
With this in mind, I am sure there are DO's providing outstanding medical treatment. "To each his own", as the saying goes.
In re of concierge service, this seems to be the "new" norm, which is a bummer for all. My PCP charges $1000 per year for the service. I bet the fee will only go up:-(

My wife is an MD who works with both here in LV. The MD was once more prestigious, but that is changing. Few realize that many MD school matriculants are unable to complete the curriculum, and are replaced by FMS transfers in the third year.

As for the MD having higher MCAT scores, half of the MCAT tests basic science and half tests the skills of an English major or Psych major. None of it tests medical practice ability or skill.

Thanks for everyone's input.
Does anyone have a primary that he/she would recommend in the NW?
This is getting frustrating. I realize that they have difficult jobs in complex cases and basically coordinate care (theoretically) but I can't go the concierge route. I got one referral but she is on the other side of town. Hard to imagine driving across airport traffic while not feeling well.

Check out Dr. Thomas S Roben. He used to be my doctor when I lived at The Lakes. He is located in the 9400 block of W. Charleston. Look him up and see if he is taking new patients and/or has your insurance. He was a good doctor, very thorough and caring.

I am on the same hunt though with expert help. My 20 year internist is retiring but she has sworn to fix me up with someone good before she leaves. I will drop you a note if she delivers.
