Provo is nice, more of a community feel than Vegas and really nice outdoor activities but not as many food options. Vegas has Red Rock, Lake Mead and Mt. Charleston, after several years those get old. Keep in mind too, that Vegas summers are brutal and limit your outdoor time.

Everytime I do the quiz from Sperling's it gives me some suburb of SLC as my ideal place to live. I'm guessing because of the outdoor activities. I contemplated cities in Colorado, but all I'm seeing there is complaining about the influx of transplants and how things are getting too crowded and expensive. We deal with enough of that here. Mind you, here rent only gets you a roof over your head and nothing more. No gas and electric included, no washer/ dryer, no parking, no amenities whatsoever.

Yes, Colorado is experiencing a ton of growth, but so is the SLC area including Provo.

Unless you are part of the LDS church, I'd cross UT off your short list and replace it with all of the thriving cities along Colorado's Front Range.
