I've made a science out of carpet cleaning as I have light carpeting, 3 dogs and am a clean freak. As others have said, the very best cleaning services offer truck mounted systems. A good one of those is going to charge around $400 for a 1500 sq.ft house. And like others have said, the best value is to buy your own cleaning system for around $139 and in the times you will use it, you will soon amortize that expense and more. The trick is to use professional cleaning solutions that are not high in solvents that remain in the carpet attracting dirt. These products are not on the store shelves but can be purchased from many companies online.

Those cleaners you rent are practicallly worthless. If you want the carpet as clean as possible (and who wouldn't, considering what was there before you arrived.........?) just hire Stanley or some other company. (of course you may have to change your phone number....LOL I believe that post about the sales calls.)

Curious, are you moving into a rental or a house you just bought? The rental company should make sure that the carpet and house is spotless before you move in because trust me, it better be that way when you move out. In many sales, a cleaning allowance is included in seller's costs at escrow but probably not in a shortsale or REO purchase. Just wondered.
