Yes, the odds at the airport are the absoluste worst. They honestly set those machines up for gambling addicts and drunks to milk every last penny from those types before they leave town. Not sure that the same applies to the machines around town in non-tourist locations like the grocery store and gas stations.

But since when is someone who plays the lottery worried about the odds?

And to those who started to fork the discussion, I don't gamble either. That's not my point. My point is that folks who live here, whether gamblers or not, shouldn't be so eager for the state to run its own gambling operation.
I guess that is a convenience store in Primm, although they call it the lotto store. What's nice about the store in Primm, there is no smoking in it. In convenience stores and supermarkets in LV people are smoking in there all the time by the little gambling areas. The point I am trying to make is, I want to avoid the secondhand smoke. It's everywhere it seems.

All the station casinos have certain days to go in and get a free pull on megabucks. One woman from the Palms casino won megabucks today for $22 million. Now it dropped back to $10 million. This is the first time I didn't win on the free pull. I think because it hit, the odds got worse again..?

You are not allowed to smoke in convenience stores and supermarkets anymore since they passed that one law. Only some bars, but they have to have a wall between the bar area and the eating area.

Yes you are very right. Perhaps we should start a thread here where we name places who ILLEGALLY still allow smoking.

I have walked into quite a few C-stores to pay for my gas and had to walk through that disgusting smell lingering from those sitting at the slot machines. A few times I was in a bad mood and made a comment to the minimum wage clerk but they could care less.

Whataya think? Any support to start a thread like this?

And why did the other poster complain about no smoking in the Lotto Store in Primm? Because the store is in California in the town of Nipton. And California has the strictest no sucking smoke rules in the nation. And even if the Lotto Store was on the Nevada side of the border it still falls under the old no smoking laws in addition to the new.

That Lotto store averages almost a quarter million dollars in lottery sales per week per California Lottery Commission. That quarter million dollars is 67 times the average for any other of the 19,000 California stores in the state. While it is impossible to determine the percentage of sales to Nevada residents it is estimated to be near 90% say Herbst Gaming who run this store.

My quick math shows Nevada is losing $10,400,000 per year from just this one single store alone. JUST THIS ONE STORE ALONE!!!! ($200,000 X 52 weeks)

Wake up Carson City !!! Wake up !!!

So, I have to agree with your first paragraph Buzz!

They claimed the same thing here in NY, Kimba... I have yet to see it happen. Meanwhile, they somehow managed to build a bunch of casinos upstate (on indian ground, of course), and I have yet to see where the $$ has improved school districts.

Hey, maybe CCSD should petition the state to start a lottery system?? Doubtful at most, I'm sure

This is the third time (that I know of) that megabucks was won at the Palms casino. I get free pulls from Palms every week. Unfortunately, yesterday, I was too late.

tortoise will become famous soon enough
For those headed up Mesquite way to purchase Powerball tickets in Arizona, there is now another outlet in addition to Beaver Dam Station. The Scenic General Store is well off the beaten path however . . bottom-right in this map.

The Beaver Dam Station is still more convenient to the freeway . . map.

Tortoise how many minute drive is this store. Some one told me they stopped selling tickets.......is it not true?

The AZ lottery does not pay as well as the California but beggers cant be choosy. Beaver Dam has to be an easier drive then Rosies.

Driving time to Beaver Dam Station (928-347-5492) is approximately 70 minutes from the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. They are listed on the Arizona State Lottery website and still selling tickets as far as I know (but haven't stopped in for a while). Several months ago when the Powerball jackpot was really high, the store lost power for most of one day which disappointed a lot of customers.
