Do I need to wear slacks here or will shorts be okay?

Honestly, folks wear all sorts of dress, especially to the buffets. Las Vegas has a casual atmosphere, so shorts should be fine!

I've noticed, in the "nicer" hotels, folks dress up a little bit more in the evening if they're attending shows and higher end restaurants. But if you're just going to the Wynn buffet, shorts (especially those with elastic waistbands) are just perfect!

Have fun and enjoy!

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! You must be an north-easterner.

Your casual is our church wear. Our casual is what you would wash the car in as long as the neighbors couldn't see you. Not only is Las Vegas a resort town...it's the desert. Or should I say not only is it the desert, it's a desert resort? The preppies look is out of place here. Give all your clothes to goodwill and buy some flip flops, shorts and t's. Think Andre Agassi, the early years.

Actually, I'm from the Southeast and have been to Vegas plenty of times. I'm not some trailer dwelling white trash come to Vegas in my wife beater to **** away my child's college money.

I've got some class about me and I want to dress appropriately - if that particular restaurant dictates it. Lawry's is in Vegas and I wouldn't wear shorts there. I didn't realize that "casino buffet" automatically means no dress code.

I agree with you, I'm from the Northeast and I never wear shorts (except to a beach or pool), and wouldn't consider it at a nice hotel like Wynn's.

In my opinion, no one over the age of 10 looks good in shorts.

Everything is air conditioned so where's the need for shorts?

Add a little class to the place and put on a pair of khakis or similar.

It's the Wynn buffet. Not the Easter Sunday buffet.

Same thing, but I'm teasing you. I'm from West Virginia, which is either southeast, or northeast, depending on your perspective, so I know how we dressed back there. You wouldn't catch a girl in shorts downtown, or at the movies or any restaurant, if her life depended on it when I lived there. My relatives dress casually when I visit and it still looks to me like they're on the way to church. They must think the way I dress that we're all trailer park trash in Las Vegas.

Because of my upbringing I suppose, I still grapple with the same thing you are about how to dress for Wynn or Bellagio. Usually I just upgrade from jeans and t-shirt to khakis and polo if there's any doubt, and that's fine anywhere these days.

BTW: We had absolutely no money, but I never saw my mother in anything but a dress or a skirt and blouse in my life, even when she worked in the yard or garden.
