People would not watch the news if nothing happened. You know that if it bleeds, it leads.

When I was serving my sentence [working for the Nugget in Atlantic City] it seemed as tho KYWTV [CBS I think] opened the 4:30 news with 1/2 hour of Murders, the 5:00 News with 1/2 hour of Fires [always a good attention getter] and the 5:30 news with 1/2 hour of Collapsed Buildings and then they went to the national news.

It's funny, I don't watch TV for the news anymore. Too much stuff that would scare the crap out of my kids. But I am a news junkie. I surf the internet and watch the local sites. All my tabs except for one are set to news sites.
My husband thinks I have an illness. I like knowing what is going on around me. I like the feel good stories as well as the gruesome, financial, political, science and even a little bit of gossip from Hollywood.
I did not make my post to scare anyone away from Vegas, stuff like that happens everywhere. But it is interesting to speculate what happened when the news first breaks.

That sounds like the typical TV News Director.
Even though we did survey after survey that showed that people were tired of all the blood and guts, and wanted to hear good news for a change, no News Director I ever worked with would accept that. They always say that people only say those things just because it sounds good, but they really want chaos and sensationalism.
