On another thread I said I would take a picture of my "desert" landscaping.

Here is the cul-de-sac where resides olecapt and the Admiral along with Sprite, Samson, Chardone and Biffer the feral that lives on the patio.

And next is our desert landscaped front yard.

Well it is not Connecticut...but not bad...

You might have rid a lot of water hogging grass but there are a whole lot of trees and shrubs that must suck up just as much.

Who cares???

It looks fantastic !!

Olecapt gets grass because he is in an older home without a strict nazi type HOA.
I did plant grass in my back yard when I first moved into my home. But promptly received a violation notice to remove the grass or pay a nice big fine. So i removed the grass, much to my cats dismay.
I now buy them cat grass every week from PetsMart.

It is pretty much all drip and very efficient. Done very well except that there are over 100 drippers. You have to monitor and replace drippers every 8 or 10 years. The whole front does not use more than a couple of hundred gallons a day average. It is a bit of a fake out as there actually is only about 600 SF of grass.

We use a lot more in the back yard which is pretty much all sprinkler heads. The place has 12 sprinkler runs and the drip system. One of these days I need to replace the sprinklers with drip at least on the beds.

Then perhaps you should visit the desert some time. You might just catch a glimpse if you open your eyes.

Yup - that is why Vegas is here. The plains were grassed. Maybe not mowed Bermuda or Fescue. But grass. Vegas was an oasis in the desert...
