Default still hot with ac running !

hello all ! as you all know our weather is already going up. about 100+ lately.
this weather calls for us to use our ac. however, even though we have ours running, it still doesnt cool down the weather is staying at a consistent 92+ upstairs. yes the switch is on cool and its set to 75 degrees. anyone have any idea why this is ? or is it jut too hot ? thanks for the info !

is your a/c busted? maybe its low on freon? As a rule of thumb, I always have my A/C unit checked out before it gets hot. I did mine last month and had the coils cleaned and a tune up done.

Until you get it fixed, invest in portable fans and crack your windows open at night.

It really does help.

What way does your house face? Does it have energy efficient windows? Does the heat seem especially bad when the sun is directly facing a side of your house? It's possible that you have bad windows/poor insulation and the A/C just can't keep up with the heat hitting the house.

thats what i was thinking. although, the AC should at least make it a little cooler right ? instead the temp keeps climbing. and stays at 92+ the windows are those energy efficient ones. we paid extra when the house built to get them. as for the sun, not really. my room is facing away from the afternoon sun and is still around 90+ so i think AApoolservice is right. it may be the AC unit or freon. whatever that is haha

Default Basic AC

A quick thing to try...turn it off and leave it off for half an hour. Than try it again. Not likely in this weather but some times they ice up. Sometimes it clears if you turn it off.

The check is to stick a thermometer in an outlet and see what temperature the air coming out is...A properly working AC unit will cool the output air about 20 degreees from the input. Anything from 18 to 22 is OK. Below that you have a problem...and above that something is wrong.

Freon is the chemical that makes you a/c cold. Try Sunset HVAC they were pretty good to me.
