Question And Now Compare The NV "Crime" Factor, Please

Okay. I am still shocked at the prevalent feeling of being "unsafe" in So Cal, with the exception of a miniscule number of areas in comparison to the whole. You look to the left and you say, "this seems like a nice place". Trouble is you then look to the right, and poof, your original thought went up in smoke.

I have been to Arizona for only a 3-week span, and although it did not seem like a piece of cake, there seemed to be more of a community feel to the suburbs, and the comparison of local news broadcasts of crimes and accidents did not seem as bad as LA, however, AZ is a much smaller state.

I have yet to venture into Nevada. {My last visit was about 10-years ago.)

Since this site seems to have well-versed visitors who have personal experience in all three locales, which state takes the cake for the most out-of-control in terms of really trying to fend-off a downward trend in crime.

NV has the supreme influence of gambling, but I would think that because of this fact, law enforcement is at peak performance.

My personal vote for the most out-of-control goes to CA. Probably too liberal. AZ and NV seem to be stricter, but that is only my perception. I have no hard facts to back this up, other than AZ's recent stand to crackdown and simply follow the immigration laws already on the books. No permission needed. And not that this is the sole cause of crime and drugs.

How does NV/Las Vegas compare in this regard?

Uhh where are you going with this. The middle class suburbs of Phoenix, Las Vegas and Los Angeles are quite interchangable. You will for instance find no safer small city than Irvine anywhere. Very Genteel. Very Liberal, Very Rich, Very safe.

Las Vegas's Henderson gets close. As does Phoenix's Scottsdale.

Gambling is in another dimension from civic crime. They have nothing to do with each other.

AZ has gone redneck and is making a fetish out of mistreating its Hispanics. Many are responding by leaving. The Govenor has responded by removing the money Sheriff Joe used to chase illegals and redeploying it to try and get a handle on the totally out of control inablility to collar wanted felons. Name your poison.

Well, mistreating people, whether legally here or not, is not condonable.

However, should employers be found to be hiring illegals, they should be held responsible. I guess I am in favor of discouragement for entering illegally rather than any kind of purposeful harassment.

But in regard to the cities that are safer, the operative word is "rich", and it seems that those who are not able to afford 600,000+ enclaves are forced to resort to questionable areas, and on top of this, it sort of becomes their "fault" for not being able to afford more rather than correct a problem which is way out of hand. NYC was turned around in one mayoral term, so in my mind there is no excuse.

The crime in LA seems wild, and I just wanted to get a feel of the other states that, as you said, are quite interchangable on many levels.

There is a complacency in So Cal that I find disturbing and I cannot imagine what it might be like a couple of years ahead should nothing major be done. I sense that NV and AZ would not permit it to thrive as much, and even with that I know statistically they are not good either.

I just read the post How many people left Vegas or moved out of Vegas? Are you one of them? (Las Vegas: house) .

It answered my question about Las Vegas to fair degree.

Statistically Las Vegas has a lower rate of violent crime per capita than many major cities and some surprising midwestern ones as well. Phoenix does have a lower violent crime per capita than Vegas though. Most of the crime out here is property crime, and a large amount of that is car theft.
