Rainbow Family moving to Vegas in 30 days........
We are a lesbian couple moving out to Vegas within the next 30-45 days, so that I can attend Le Cordon Bleu. We are looking for an apartment close to but not necessarily in Summerlin. Our credit is kind of shaky, but we are willing to pay a bigger deposit if need be. We can afford up to $850 per month. The apartment must be close to a Middle School, have a/c, pet (2 dogs under 25 lbs.) and GAY/LESBIAN FRIENDLY!!! If there are any other rainbow families out there, or anyone else for that matter that can give us some pointers, advice etc.

Two dogs and a middle school kid is a big load. Lesbian ain't a problem.
Good middle schools mean nicer neighborhoods which means higher rents and less tolerance for double dogs.
Go with Tonita... she is obviously working that market. But watch the schools...that is the hardest part of what you are trying to do. When you think you have a place drop me a DM and I will render an opinion...it will likely be the best you will get but you have no real way to tell that.
But I may give you some views that are helpful in going forward.

I teach middle school science for CCSD and I suggest that you try to be zoned for one of the following schools: Becker, Rogich, Leavitt, Lied, Molasky, Cadwadeller, Johnson, or Escobedo. Becker is the best of the lot with Rogich a close second.

Ahh you are a west sider. What about Miller, Greenspan, Webb, Hyde Park, Garrett and Lyons?
YOu should be ashamed for leaving out Hyde Park. The little inner city Middle School that could....
OPs problem is that the OPs price and two dogs practically rule out every neighborhood on our list...with the possible exception of Hyde Park.

Hyde Park is a magnet school. You only get in by lottery unless you live in the horrible neighborhood around it. The only reason Hyde Park looks decent is because of the Magnet students.
As far as the rest you mention, I did not mean to imply that my list was complete, it was simply based on what I have personal knowledge of. I realize that the Henderson/Green Valley area also has very good schools, I just don't have a lot of knowledge of that area yet!!

Got a couple of friends who live in that neighborhood that would give you a very large argument about your views. In fact putting on my Real Estate hat I would point out that you are very wrong.
There are some areas around Hyde Park that suck...but there are a large set that don't. Just unknown to the suburbanite. ...
NOte that Clark(a high school)...actually in worse shape than Hyde Park... continues to have more National Merit Scholarship semi-finalists than most schools in the Valley. Weird huh...and been that way for some years.
All is not as it appears on the surface.

Take the magnet program (which attracts great kids from other schools) away from Clark and you can wait 100 years for another National Merit winner.

Obviously the magnet program. But there are a lot of local kids suitable for National Merit also. Clearly a two population school. As is Hyde Park.
