Currently living in Orange County, CA way to expensive to live her anymore, and not a good place to raise children either. I'm definitely going to move to the area but am wanting to move where there's good schools, lower crime, and is kid friendly. I have two teenagers a 13 year old, and a 17 year old to give you an idea. I've heard to look in the Henderson area of Nevada. I was thinking of renting an apartment for the first year until we decide to buy. Any apartment complexes in Henderson better than others. How hard would it be to find Adminstrative work in Henderson, and what approx is the pay salary for admin work, where is the nearest community college to Henderson. What sections of Henderson are nicer than the rest for kids. Any feedback you can give is valuable.

Coronado is typically regarded as the best high school in Henderson. Try to look at neighborhoods zoned for Coronado.

I live in the Palm Hills area. I have to say I love this city of Henderson. Peaceful and quiet and I have some great neighbors. Sometimes I think I am in the midwest, only difference is the weather

Default It is good, however....

Coronado is a highly rated school, but just make sure to have the "drugs" talk with your teens first. Because of the money in the school, lots of drugs behind the scenes. Have a long talk about peer pressure first and you will be very happy with the education.
Check out sunridge apartment. THere are also alot of homes for rent right now in great areas. HTH!

Ehh...Green Valley is more of a drug school than Coronado. I would say that CHS is pretty tame by comparison.

But really, drugs will be at every school. I'm sure the kids have already been exposed to it in CA.

When we moved here, one of the top reasons was NOT "a good place to raise kids". That being said I have kept my kids really busy here in Henderson and they have had a fairly "normal" experience but just last night we were talking about our upcoming move to CO and what a reverse culture shock it will be for my boys. One of my boys was 3 when we moved here so he doesn't remember what living in a town that is 'normal' is like. I tried to tell him that I doubt they will have movie theaters and bowling in casino's and we won't see the "butt taxi's" anymore

PS. I am zoned for Coronado and have heard only good things about it

How did you keep your kids busy in Henderson, are there really any good places left to raise kids these days. The cost of living in Henderson is almost half of what it is here in Orange County, CA.

Things to do for kids:

-Youth Soccer. Youth soccer is absolutely HUGE in the valley. There are tons of club leagues. Even beginners can join up.

-Chilling out by the pool. Almost all apartment complexes have community pools. A great way to keep cool in the summer.

-Enjoying shopping and live music at the District. It's a great area to walk around...a very lively atmosphere.

-Outdoor recreation...Lake Mead is really close by.

Coronado! I might be mistaken, but isn't that where they had that shooting?

No but they certainly could have one. Note that probably the worst of recent time happened in a Amish one room school house.

These are lightning bolts there is no predicting when or where. And a place that has had one is very unlikely to have another.
