Default Wish I could Live in Vegas

Just returned to my home in NW Pennsylvania after spending (4) days in Vegas. This is my sixth time to the area and I make it there as much as possible to visit my brother who lives in the Mountain Edge area. Here is our issue...My wife and I absolutley love the area, but I have read a lot of negative comments about the area schools. Living there having (3) young children would make the private school a good idea but not affortable Our thought now is to have a second home or condo in the area and purchase when the market is so DOWN! We could visit as much as we wanted and still reap the benefits of our current home town and its schools....Does anyone have an opinion of this idea? Our plan would be to rent out or home while not there... Any ideas or suggesstions on where to look next.

The public schools out here aren't all bad.

The fact of the matter is that there actually are a lot of really strong schools in the valley. But, because the entire county is lumped into one school district, the inner-city schools bring down the averages. This means that the good schools don't often get a chance to boast their scores, but they do exist, definitely.

Summerlin, the Centennial Hills area, and Henderson are all areas with well-ranked schools.

I agree the schools here are no worse than other big cities.

As with any large public school district, there are good and bad schools. Do you research, and you will be fine.

As previous writers mentioned, the quality of schools in Vegas depends largely on where you live - better area = better schools. While you hesitate now, when you are scraping the snow off your windows next winter for the 58th time and the snowdrift at the Meadville Wal-Mart is 28 feet high Vegas will be looking pretty good. Your kids will also thank you later for saving them from a life of dispair at Gannon or Thiel. Go Rebels!
