Moved into Eagle Trace and the map says Mojave High School is it.

Anyone ever heard of this school?
Is this the only option for a resident in the zone?
Are there any good but inexpensive private schools nearby?

And if we are stuck with Mojave High School....any advice or tips on how to make the next 4 years as pleasant as possible?

Im new to the area and i might be zoned for Mojave high school, but from what i heard from the locals Mojave is not the greatest.

Just an opinion: You might want to make other arrangements for you kid to go to another school, either a private school or another public school.

This is what im doing for my 15 yr old son,he will be going to a different high school rather than Mojave.

I actually live by there, but do not have children that go there yet. I really do not see any problems around the area, lots of kids walking to and from school who seem pretty well behaved, and also see quite a few police driving around during school, but see that quite a bit lately.

Thanks for the tip.

Do you know of any good yet inexpensive private schools nearby?
And how is he going to another high school....how does that work?

Oh, I have a daughter who will be in 9th grade at 13, well, actually 10th grade at 13. She was moved up in public school and went to a private school back east and earned a 9th grade
english
american history
geology
earth science
pre-algebria

credits. So she will be transferring into the Clark County school district w/ 5 credits.

From what I hear and read on the school reports that float around here is that Mojave is not that good. I have a daughter going into 9th too and I wouldn't go there based on the above. I would put "schools" in the search for this forum and you will get all kinds of info.

I think I did read that if the school didn't meet the AYP, then you can send her somewhere else. I don't know how to go about that, I would call the school admin. office.

Also, I don't know what you consider inexpensive, but I found the privates to be quite high-for my budget at this point. If I get a decent job there I may go for it.

There are also the charter schools to consider, which from what people say here, are the best.

Good luck!

Mojave is 37th out of 39. It is violence prone.

Is there any way at all you can move further south into Coronado, Green Valley, or even the Foothills zone? All three are much better schools.

If not, I would suggest privates. The most affordable private high school in the valley is Faith Lutheran. The reputation is actually quite good. It's on the other side of town, but the commute isn't bad (lots of kids from the Henderson area go there).
