Detroit Transplant Seeks Honest Apt. Ratings
My girlfriend and I (both 30 no kids) are looking to move out to Las Vegas in a few months. At the moment we've seen some apartments, but only on websites. After doing a bit of digging we have been reading a lot of negative reviews.
I was wondering if anyone could suggest some apartment complexes that they have had positive experiences in. We're looking to live in the Summerlin Area.
I understand that nothing is going to be 100% perfect, but we'd like to find a place that isn't a, how you say, "**** hole".
Thanks!

People pay extra to live in Summerlin, because there aren't any ****holes. You will be fine.

The list generally agrees that Wellington Meadows will work OK. There are also some reasonable condos under $1000.

Ive said it before, but do yourself a favor and rent an upstairs unit. You will be happier. The apartments here are built cheaply. If you live downstairs you will here every foot step above you, especially if you have some overweight monster living above you like I do. Upstairs units may be a little more expensive and slightly more costly to keep cool, but it is worth it.

Wellington meadows isn't the only game in town. Why not check out
Apartments for rent: Apartment Guide, your free apartment finder. It's layed out in sections of the valley. Most apts allow pets, but you will have to pay a deposit plus monthly pet rent.

Why not look at Henderson? Your 30 with no kids and I think you might find a little more to do in Henderson. Summerlin is more family oriented. Maybe I'm misinformed, but I'd take Henderson at single and 30.

You are misinformed. For any tract in Summerlin or Henderson there exists virtually an exact match in the other. Generally the same builder. Often the same designs. If anything Henderson is a little stodgier than Summerlin.
If you are young, childless and sowing wild oats the south strip might well be a good choice. The other would be some of the center city neighborhoods but they do not have the suburban ambiance.

Henderson and Summerlin are practically mirror images of eachother, with nearly identical local casinos, strip malls with the exact same chain stores and restaurants. Summerlin is a little more sterile and clean because they don't have any older/poorer areas, unless you consider Buffalo/Lake Mead, which is absurd. Downtown Henderson and Boulder Highway are a little grimy, but much of Henderson is literally built from the same plans by the same builders as much of Summerlin and most other suburban Las Vegas areas for that matter. Summerlin and the NW are also a few degrees cooler.
The Lakes is a great area with nice apartment complexes/condos and a tad closer to the strip - zip code 89117

I recently read on the internet that Sahara Boulevard was featured on 60 minutes as one of the most dangerous cities in the U.S. I was considering an apartment on W. Sahara between Durango and Buffalo called Vintage at the Lakes in area code 89117. Is this true or this just some jilted person who had a bad experience?
