What do you all love about Vegas?
All the different restaurants (we never run out of places to try); the beautiful fall weather; mountains (I lived in the midwest, so I'm glad it's not so dreadfully flat)
What do you hate about Vegas?
The prevalance of wreckless and/or rude drivers; no natural greenery, and I miss the natural wildlife that normally inhabits that kind of environment (woodpeckers and deer, for example); very few thunderstorms
What's the Best thing you have ever done in LV
Horseback-riding in Red Rock Canyon
If I can have a second, then it would probably be star-gazing in the desert; there is so much to see, it's beautiful
What are you going to do next.. and why?
We are planning to hike up a mountain that's near our house. We recently hiked up a really small one just to get the feel of it and absolutely loved it. With the summer off from school, we're planning to go hiking once a week--I can't wait!
What's up and coming, things to get excited about?
Graduating from pharmacy school? Oh, I guess you mean in Las Vegas generally, not my personal life, right. I don't know, I'm not really that up-to-date about what's going on around town. But I'm getting real excited about the Fourth--I'm so glad fireworks are legal in Las Vegas. I love lighting off lots of fountains. I've been counting down since last year and driving my fiance nuts.

The weather, low taxes, friendly people, the "can-do" attitude, the energy of the city.

Development Services (Building Department). Anyone who has gone through the permit process as an owner-builder will understand why.
People who move here, then try to change it.
I prefer to think of the wind as a worthy opponent in the ongoing game of "Keep the patio furniture out of the pool."

Gone skydiving in Jean, NV.

Some friends and I are talking about trying our hand at prospecting. Probably won't get rich, but it should be a great way to explore the countryside (I love the desert).

Hard to limit that to a small number. I haven't come close to exploring all the surrounding areas, or the everything in the city itself, for that matter. One thin about Las Vegas that I really like, is there is always something new to try.
After five years here, I'm fascinated by the contrasts.
Sometimes it's like a small town sometimes (We know all our neighbors and high school sports are covered on TV).
Sometimes like the biggest city in the world (more than $40 billion in construction at the moment, and lots of heavy traffic).
And sometimes like the world's greatest fantasy (coming out of Phantom a few weeks ago to see a pirate ship battle going on across the street!).
Anyway, glad to hear you like our adopted home town.

You'll have to pay Federal income tax (15-35%, based on your income), but Nevada has no state income tax (which is up to 9% in California, for example).
You'll get very good quality health care through your employer - or if you work independently, through a private group. You'll have to pay a certain fee per month, but it's likely a lot less than the additional income tax you pay for your "free" health care in the UK.

What do you all love about Vegas? What most people fail to remember is that Las Vegas is just one city in Nevada. It is the STATE of Nevada that has given us the chance to build Las Vegas, so what I like most is that it is in such a libertarian minded (not Libertarian Party) state. The location of Vegas is not the best in the state but it ain’t bad either, being central to so much of the best of the U. S. Southwest.
What do you hate about Vegas? I hate that it grew so fast before the newbies had a chance to become absorbed in Nevada style, so that now, too many new people want to change Nevada to be like the really lousy places that they came here to get away from.
What's the Best thing you have ever done in LV? On a personal level, being in the delivery room when my son was born at the old Women’s Hospital was the greatest show I’ve ever witnessed (my daughter was born in WV and I couldnt be in the room). On a professional level, I am proud of my role in the transformation of Las Vegas television from something on the order of a really bad home movie, to the professional venue that it is today.
What are you going to do next... and why? That’s hard to predict given certain health issues, but I’d really like to tear myself away from the internet and focus again on finishing my book. I think it is an important story to tell in today’s world where child sexual predators are running rampant.
What's up and coming, things to get excited about? My wife and I have decided we have been wasting time that is too precious not to make the best of, and we are planning to do more traveling. We still haven’t seen Europe, and as God is mah witnas, auh’ll neva go without Yerp agin.
