What he means to say is that when you get as old as he is things aren't as exciting as they used to be.

Actually those of us who've lived here for a long time don't think it's a big deal anymore. But when we travel we are aware that something is missing and that thing is the excitement of Las Vegas, and then we can't wait to get back home...go figure.
I'll have to be more careful with what I type on here (goodness forbid that my posts get deleted again ). I definitely agree with you (and olecapt) about the excitement factor! Never a dull moment!

Many experts see a meltdown in the Las Vegas economy!

I believe it was Will Rogers that defined an "EXPERT" as a man that knew 200 ways to milk a cow and never tasted a drop of milk.

If these were biblical times, these so called "experts" would be stoned to death because they would be wrong about a prediction. This should be enforced these days because of all the people writing a bunch of speculation without accountability.

The Real Estate Nightmare I Found In Las Vegas

Overview of a real-estate conference just held in Las Vegas.

Some very sobering takeaway notes:

In no particular order here is a synopsis of this year's conference:

1. No one has any idea when we will reach a bottom simply because no one knows how many classes of real estate are going down. The most optimistic guess was 2010 but most wouldn't even hazard a guess. Some of the grey hairs think 5 or 6 years.

These is a plus side to the home prices dropping. More people can actually afford a home, but prices are not even the same to late 90's pricing.

Wall Street Journal:

"Oil Shock: Analyst Predicts $7 Gas, “Mass Exodus” of U.S. Cars

Oil at $135? That was just the opening skirmish in the “peak oil” wars. The latest smart money? $200 oil in 2010, with gasoline at $7 a gallon. And that is going to turn Americans into car-shunning Europeans once and for all—poor Americans, at least."

So what is your point? Everyone is hurting and that includes you? Are you going to get rid of your car? Move to Saudi Arabia or Venezuela and get cheap fuel?

Fuel, Fuel, Fuel, it kinda makes me laugh (a very little bit) Part by choice and part by court order I haven't drove a car in more than 7 years and I get where I have to go every day. Lost 20lbs walking 2 miles to work daily for a year. I was like everyone else 8 years ago, very dependent on my car. It's kind of wierd being the only one I know not being hurt as bad by fuel prices. I almost don't notice the prices at all.
